A little about my vision
As a primary school teacher and a mum, I’ve always believed in the power of play. Watching my own son grow and learn through play, alongside working with children every day in the classroom, has shown me just how important it is for children to have safe, inspiring spaces where their imaginations can run free.
When I took on My Playful World, I wanted it to be more than just a play centre. I wanted it to be a place where children feel excited to explore and create and where parents feel just as welcome. It was important to me that the space felt homely as well as fun, somewhere families could enjoy together again and again.
For parents, I’ve thought about the little things too: a calming, comfortable café area, a relaxing environment and plenty of good coffee and homemade treats to enjoy while the children play.
My Playful World is about creating happy memories for children, parents and families. I look forward to welcoming you.
Sustainability
Sustainability is important to me. My family and I work hard at home to reduce, reuse and recycle; I wanted to carry this ethos over into my business.
When you come to visit us, you’ll notice that we have very few plastic toys. Many of the toys and activities have been sourced from smaller companies or those using FSC certified wood. We also have some of the favourite toys from the play centre available, here to buy. Brands at the playcentre include Le Toy Van, Little Dutch, Kidly, Kid’s Concept, Bigjigs Toys, Plan Toys, Vertbaudet, Jabadabado and Janod.
In the café everything is freshly prepared to order. We use organic produce as much we can; not just because it’s good for our own health but also because organic is better for the environment. The coffee beans and the milk we use are organic – bringing you the perfect, eco-friendly latte!
As a small business, it’s important for us to support other small businesses and new ventures so at My Playful World we stock locally made children’s hair accessories from Iddy Biddy Bows and have work from local artist Elsa Megan displayed and available to purchase.
We have a pin board in the lobby to celebrate small, local businesses. Feel free to bring your company card and pin it up to share!

The importance of play:
Registered charity Play England tells us that play is an essential part of every child’s life. It is vital not only for the enjoyment of childhood, but also for children’s social, emotional, intellectual and physical development. When children are asked what matters most to them, playing and spending time with friends are usually at the top of the list.
High-quality play opportunities can:
-
increase self-awareness, self-esteem and self-respect
-
support physical and mental health
-
encourage friendships and social interaction
-
build confidence through developing new skills
-
promote imagination, independence and creativity
-
bring children of all abilities and backgrounds together
-
nurture social skills and learning
-
build resilience through risk taking, problem solving and new experiences
-
create opportunities to explore and understand the wider world.
At My Playful World, we have designed a space where children can experience all of these benefits. Our immersive, stimulating environment encourages children to learn, play and grow while having fun and making memories along the way.
